Safer Waves offers support and information to merchant seafarers who have experienced sexual violence or gender discrimination while working at sea.
A merchant ship is a unique environment. Seafarers who experience abuse on board face additional challenges because of this. At Safer Waves we understand those challenges. We strive to make specialised support available to seafarers too.
Safer Waves is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. This means we are a non-profit. We are independent and dedicated to responding to sexual violence at sea.
There are many ways that you can get involved in Safer Waves. You can volunteer, follow us on social media, raise awareness, raise funds, or offer your expertise.
As of May 2022, Safer Waves is a member of The Survivors Trust. The Survivors Trust is the largest umbrella agency for specialist rape and sexual abuse services in the UK. Becoming a member is an important milestone for Safer Waves, as we continue our mission to make specialist support accessible to seafarers.
